Dale Evans (Wife of Roy Rogers)
American leading lady of musical westerns of the 1940s & known to millions as the Queen of the West.
Born in Uvalde, Texas and raised in Arkansas she was intent on a singing career and moved to Memphis, Tenn. She worked for an insurance company taking occasional radio singing jobs. Her boss heard her singing one day and promptly put her on a local radio program. In 1931, the young singer got a better job on a radio station in Kentucky and moved away from Memphis.
